For one of the larger slab desks that I've done, I used a slightly thicker steel rod for the geometric base. The slab is full of highly figured Claro walnut grain, curling throughout the length of it. A few cracks allow us the opportunity to add butterfly joints made of rosewood. A lovely piece for a fabulous client.
